The Federal High Court of Nigeria has announced its Easter Vacation and Roster for Vacation Judges for the year 2023.
According to a circular signed by the Assistant Director Information, Catherine Oby Christopher, the Court will commence its Easter Vacation from Friday, 31st March, 2023 to Monday, 17th April, 2023.
The Easter Vacation is in line with the provisions of Order 46, Rule 4 (b) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2019 (as amended). The Court will resume sitting on Tuesday, 18th April, 2023, in all Judicial Divisions.
During the vacation period, the Abuja, Lagos, and Port-Harcourt Judicial Divisions will remain open to the public only for cases of extreme urgency.
The Abuja Judicial Division will cater to cases from the Federal Capital Territory, North Central, North Western, and North Eastern parts of the country.
The Lagos Division will cater to cases from all the South Western States, while the Port-Harcourt Judicial Division will cater to cases from all states within the South-South and South Eastern Geo-political Zones.
The Federal High Court has also released the names of the Honorable Judges who will serve as Vacation Judges during the Easter break.
In the Abuja Judicial Division, Hon. Justice A.R. Mohammed and Hon. Justice D.U. Okorowo will serve as Vacation Judges. In the Lagos Judicial Division, Hon. Justice T.G. Ringim and Hon. Justice A.O. Awogboro will serve as Vacation Judges.
In the Port-Harcourt Judicial Division, Hon. Justice A.T. Mohammed and Hon. Justice S.I. Mark will serve as Vacation Judges.
The Vacation Judges and Heads of Divisions have been advised to promptly refer to the Honorable Chief Judge all matters that they believe may require his urgent attention and directives.
