Governor Umo Eno Pledges Continuity Amid Wife’s Passing

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom has assured the people of the state that the machinery of governance will remain intact despite the recent death of his wife, Mrs. Patience Eno. In a solemn state broadcast on Friday in Uyo, the governor expressed his determination to continue the legacies his late wife left behind, including initiatives aimed at improving the lives of the people of Akwa Ibom.

Mrs. Patience Eno, who passed away on September 26, was surrounded by her family at the time of her death. In his emotional address, Governor Eno assured citizens that her vision would not be forgotten. “Let me assure Akwa Ibom people that I shall pursue everything she held dear while she was with us,” he said, vowing to uphold and expand the “Golden Initiative for All” and other projects she had championed. “The machinery of state will continue to function seamlessly, and government will continue to be alive to her responsibilities,” he added.

The governor also emphasized that despite the personal loss, the state’s governance will remain focused on serving the people. “Our focus will not be shifted from rendering services to our people; we shall serve with renewed strength. This is what my wife has always prayed for,” Governor Eno said. His words highlighted his commitment to ensuring that his wife’s efforts to improve the state continue to thrive in her absence.

In his address, Governor Eno also took a moment to thank President Bola Tinubu for his support during this difficult time. “Your words of encouragement have helped hugely to comfort us at this moment of loss, grief, and bereavement,” the governor said. He concluded by asking for continued respect for his family’s privacy as they navigate through this period of mourning.
