Hon. Adedamola Kasumu Wow Constituency Leader, Reassured them of Dividend of Democracy

….Unveils his Four Point Agenda 

In a bid to promote legislators and constituency interaction while engaging constituents in art of governance and ensuring that their input count in the affairs of the state, Hon. Adedamola Richard Kasumu, member Lagos state house of Assembly host constituency members as he gives account of his stewardship. 

The event that took place at the prestigious Eko FM Multi-purpose Hall, LTV 8 around Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos on  Wednesday 11th of September, 2019 with the theme; “Environmental Challenges: Community Engagement to Facilitate Lasting Solution” had top politicians,  custituency leaders, members of the constituency both Ikeja constituency 2 and Ojodu, market women and youths of the communities.

At the meeting,  the honourable sensitized the residents on the need to protect their environment while enjoinning them to stop violating the Environmental law and actions capable of frustrating government’s effort and huge investment in the sector. 

He also urge them to embrace attitudinal change and join hands with the government to reserve the environment.  

While addressing the stakeholder,  Honourable Kasumu seized the opportunity to thank them immensely for their suport all through the election period saying “I’m using this opportunity to appreciate the leaders of our great constituency for their unparalleled support before, during and after the election. I am aware of the fact that  since we concluded the election, i have not had the opportunity of meeting the whole house in one sitting as we have today.”

In his speech he said,  “One of the very first legislative duties we carried out after the inauguration of the 9th Assembly was the screening of commissioner and special advisers. Out of 38 nominees, 35 were cleared while 3 were dropped. As the member representing you at the house of Assembly, I played my role and did my best during the screening exercise to ensure that Ikeja is fully represented without any problem.”

“And on the employment, one of the strongest passions and area of focus as a lawmaker is youth employment and empowerment. Between June and now, I have facilitated the employment of about three youth into Lagos State Civil Service which includes; Bankole Babatunde Olusesan, LASTMA who was nominated by Isale Awori community in Ikeja, Olusola Odeyale, LASTMA, nominated by Oluwole/Sogunro Community in Ojodu LCDA and Oluwatoyin Salako who was from Ojodu LCDA was employed into Lagos House State House of Assembly Commission.”

Buttressing his point,  he also said “In my first tenure as a lawmaker; about 70 youths from Ikeja Constituency 2 got various categories of jobs in Lagos State through my office and today they are doing extremely well.”

“Meanwhile, other employments are still being process and as we get their letters of employment we will make it known.” He reassured 

On the cash empowerment, he said ten people in the community with disabilities benefitted from State cash empowerment of 1million (100,000 each) through his office. 

However,  the young dynamic politician is also leaving no stone unturned in the educational sector as he gave records of about fifty students across the constituency who benefitted from the ARK 2019 free GCE registration in July this year. 

When he was asked about skill acquisition he said, “Through my office, Vulcanizers in the constituency benefitted from the state government U-box empowerment.”

“And aside that,  youth of my constituency were nominated into Lagos state youth parliament, Sunday Adedoyin was nominated to represent Ikeja Constituency 2 at the Lagos state youth parliament and he is currently an officer of the parliament.”

Recommendation of roads for rehabilitation, three major roads were recommended to the state government for rehabilitation and some have been completed while some are still in progress. These roads include Ayo Alabi Street, Ogunlowo Street Ikeja and Aina Street in Ojodu LCDA according to the young intelligent politician. 

“Sponsorship of a youth on Hajj, as part  of my effort to inspire and empower our youths, one of our constituency youth benefitted from this year’s Hajj slots and Abiodun Shakirudeen Abass, popularly known as Bismilahi who is now known and addressed as Alhaji. 

“Financial assistance, quite a number of our constituents have been assisted financially on various personally needs and more are still pending. Between June 2019 and now over 3.5 million has been expended on financial assistance.” He concluded 

Meanwhile, he promised the leaders, youths,  women and other political stalwart to always be at their beck and call while he unveil his agenda for the new tenure which is to focus on four key areas which are; youth empowerment, Women empowerment, Community development and impacting bills and relevant motions.
