Tuesday, 18th of August, 2020, the office of the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division of the Nigerian Army, Lagos, Major-General Godwin Umelo received the convener of Honeybols Foundation, Mrs Adebimpe Akinfolajimi who paid a courtesy visit.
According to Mrs Adebimpe Akinfolajimi, her mission is to extend her giving hands to the widows of the falling heroes within the Nigerian army in Lagos.
In her statement, the foundation has played a major role in the lives of widows and vulnerable kids saying “Honeybols Foundation is a non-governmental organization that was established fifteen years ago but officially four years now. The foundation has empowered well over 1000 widows in the last three years. We have contributed towards the education of the young and old. Recently, we donated mathematics skill games to public schools in Lagos. We also have over 18 students on our scholarship scheme and we hope to do more because we realized that, when a woman loses her husband, both the family members and people around her abandon her to her faith. Prior to that, we have made it our priority to be a shoulder they can lean on anytime they are in need. We don’t just give, we empowered, educate and train them on skill acquisition so has to enable them to fend for themselves and their children.”
On the purpose of the visit, Mrs Adebimpe hinted General Umelo about a future project Honeybols Foundation is working on which will further help compliment the work of the Nigerian Army NGO and the Lagos State Government in assisting the wives of falling heroes in the Nigerian Army by giving out a palliatives while supporting some of them with a token to start up a business.
In response, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division of the Nigerian Army, Lagos, Major-General Godwin Umelo expressed his happiness seeing individuals thinking of giving back to the society while extending it to the Nigerian Army.
General Umelo however, promised the organization the full backing of his office as he introduced them to other officers in charge of the welfare of Nigerian Army in Lagos.
