Nigerian actress, Omowunmi Dada has revealed the shocking circumstances surrounding her battle with sepsis while working on a movie set in Oyo State. In a candid post on social media, the actress shared her ordeal, explaining how she was abandoned by the production team after falling critically ill. Her harrowing experience highlights both her physical health struggles and the unethical treatment she faced during the project.
Omowunmi recounted the troubling events in a social media post, saying, “My dear… I got sepsis on a project in Oyo, they literally left me in the hotel.” She described how, after contracting the life-threatening infection, she was left alone in a hotel by the production team, with no immediate help or support. Fortunately, her family and management intervened quickly, ensuring she was rushed to a hospital in Ibadan.
“I thank God my family and management got a car to take me to a hospital in Ibadan. I got there unconscious. It was sepsis and I was lucky to be alive,” Omowunmi added, reflecting on the severity of her condition. Sepsis is a life-threatening complication that occurs when the body’s response to an infection becomes uncontrolled, and it requires immediate medical attention.
Despite her critical condition, Omowunmi claimed that the production company still had the audacity to demand a full refund for the project. “Funny thing, production asked for full refund,” she shared, highlighting the disturbing nature of the situation. She further explained that the production company’s focus was on money rather than her well-being, adding that they continued to press for the refund even as she fought for her life.
Omowunmi also disclosed that after her recovery, she had to handle her medical expenses independently. “Sameeee! I got myself to Lagos and to the hospital. Paid for my treatment myself,” she revealed. The actress pointed out that despite her health crisis, the production company continued to send her messages about a refund, showing a lack of empathy for her situation.
As Omowunmi’s team responded to the refund request, they highlighted the breach of contract by the production company. “By the time my team sent a response with all the clauses they had breached in the contract, they went quiet,” she explained. The actress emphasized that, in the midst of her medical emergency, the production company had not once inquired about her recovery, instead focusing solely on financial matters.
