IPOB speaks on plot to attack bank in southeast

Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has warned the public about plans by some criminals claiming to be Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s disciples to invade banks in Abia State and some parts of the South-East region.

According to IPOB’s intelligence unit, the M-Branch, the criminals plan to carry out the attacks and then blame it on the IPOB and the Eastern Security Network operatives.

In a statement, IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, urged the public to be vigilant, saying that IPOB was not part of the plan and does not engage in criminal activities.

The group advised the people of the South-East to avoid supporting or participating in any attack on any bank in the region.

The statement further warned that if any bank in the South-East is attacked, people should hold those claiming to be Kanu’s disciples responsible as they have committed other crimes.

The IPOB assured the public that it would checkmate the criminals and their plans to blackmail IPOB and ESN operatives.

IPOB’s warning comes amid rising insecurity in the South-East region and other parts of the country. The group is currently agitating for the secession of the South-East from Nigeria, citing marginalization and discrimination against the Igbo people.
