Isaac Fayose to Petition EFCC Over Bobrisky’s Arrest at Airport

Businessman Isaac Fayose has announced plans to file a formal petition with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) regarding the alleged unlawful arrest of popular figure Bobrisky at the International Airport. The incident, which has garnered significant attention, was captured in viral social media footage showing Bobrisky being forcibly removed by officials from the anti-graft agency.

Bobrisky, known for his controversial online presence, took to Instagram shortly after the arrest to claim that he had been injured during the encounter. “This is very wrong,” Fayose responded, expressing his outrage at the treatment of Bobrisky, whose real name is Idris Okuneye.

The dramatic scene unfolded as Bobrisky was reportedly detained while attempting to travel. Eyewitness accounts and social media videos depicted moments of public humiliation, sparking widespread condemnation from his supporters and others concerned about the methods used by the EFCC.

Fayose criticized the EFCC for what he described as harassment, especially given that the agency had previously cleared Bobrisky of all charges during Senate investigations. “Arresting @bobrisky222 at the airport last night is a clear case of abuse,” he wrote on Instagram, highlighting the inconsistency in the agency’s actions.

He further noted, “EFCC cleared the guy of money laundering charges 5/6 months ago, and they even came to the National Assembly to tell Nigerians that he was innocent. Why all this harassment? This is very wrong.” Fayose’s comments reflect growing concerns over the treatment of individuals by law enforcement agencies in Nigeria.

In addition to filing a complaint with the EFCC, Fayose pledged to report the incident to various international organizations, aiming to bring attention to what he sees as unjust treatment of the flamboyant social media personality. His advocacy has resonated with many who view Bobrisky as a symbol of self-expression and resilience.

Despite Fayose’s commitment to support Bobrisky, some social media users criticized him, suggesting that he may have had a role in the circumstances surrounding the arrest. Many pointed out that Fayose had shared photos with Bobrisky shortly before the flight that was intercepted by the EFCC, leading to speculation about the nature of their relationship.
