Israel DMW Calls for Edo State Governor Okpebholo’s Resignation

Israel DMW, a close aide to Nigerian singer Davido, has publicly called for Edo State Governor Okpebholo to step down immediately. In a strongly worded Instagram post, he accused the governor of bringing turmoil to the state since assuming office.

In his message, Israel DMW expressed dissatisfaction with the current administration, stating that the state has been in disarray since Okpebholo took charge. He further alleged that the governor’s tenure was marred by corruption and that the people of Edo had been denied their rightful leadership.

“Edo 2024. My dear Governor Okpebholo, I want to specially beg and advise that you resign and immediately hand over to Asue Ighodalo, who the majority of we elites truly voted as our governor, sir,” he wrote. “The entire state has not had one single peace since you took over, sir.”

Israel DMW went further to suggest that spiritual forces were at play, claiming that the ancestors were displeased with the alleged electoral malpractice that led to Okpebholo’s emergence as governor. “The ANCESTORS are fully angry with the pure robbery that took place. Some heads are too very strong to be cheated,” he declared.

He also insinuated that the truth about the election results would eventually be exposed. “Some robberies sometimes don’t get successful. We know you have connections to cover everything, sir. We know the real truth of what transpired would come out many years later, like June 12, sir,” he added.

His comments have sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some Edo citizens echoing his sentiments while others criticized him for making unverified claims. The controversy has reignited debates on the fairness of the last gubernatorial election and the state’s political stability.

As of now, Governor Okpebholo has not responded to Israel DMW’s statement.
