Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun has sworn to uphold integrity in the judiciary, declaring zero tolerance for corruption under her leadership.
On Wednesday, after her confirmation by the Senate, Kekere-Ekun stated, “All pre-election matters will terminate at the Court of Appeal. I have zero tolerance for corruption.”
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had requested her confirmation in a letter to the Senate. Kekere-Ekun had been acting Chief Justice since August, following Justice Olukayode Ariwoola’s retirement.
During her Senate screening, Kekere-Ekun emphasized leveraging technology for swift justice. “We will ensure quick dispensation of justice,” she assured.
She also pledged to safeguard the judiciary’s independence. “We will remain impartial and unbiased,” Kekere-Ekun said.
As Nigeria’s 23rd substantive Chief Justice and second female to hold the position, Justice Kekere-Ekun’s commitment to integrity and efficiency is expected to bring positive reforms to the judiciary.
