Kaduna Central Senatorial District Criticizes Former Governor Nasir El-Rufai Amid Accusations Against Governor Uba Sani

The Kaduna Central Senatorial District has fiercely responded to recent accusations made by former Governor Nasir El-Rufai against the current Governor, Uba Sani. The exchange of harsh words has created a political storm in the state, with Sani retaliating after El-Rufai accused him of receiving “N150 billion” from President Bola Tinubu and failing to disclose the details to the public.

The tension between the two political figures came to a head on Wednesday when Governor Uba Sani addressed the claims on social media. In a Facebook post, Sani refuted El-Rufai’s allegations, pointing out that the former governor’s own record in office should be scrutinized before making such claims.

Sani’s post read, “The Ex-Governor of Kaduna State accused the Present Governor of Collecting ‘N150 Billion’ from Tinubu and refusing to disclose it to the people of the state. Let’s recall history and find the answers.” With this, Sani was not only defending himself but also launching a counter-attack on El-Rufai’s legacy.

He went on to list a series of financial dealings that he claimed El-Rufai was involved in but failed to disclose to the people of Kaduna during his tenure as governor. Sani accused El-Rufai of having collected millions of dollars in Paris Refunds from former President Muhammadu Buhari without informing the public. He also alleged that El-Rufai had received billions in excess crude funds, ecological funds, and special grants from the Buhari administration, all without disclosing these transactions to the people of Kaduna State.

Sani further accused El-Rufai of collecting billions from stamp duties and mortgaging the state’s internally generated revenue (IGR) without any transparency. “He collected Billions from a commercial Bank and mortgaged the state IGR and never disclosed it to the Kaduna people,” Sani wrote, continuing his critique of El-Rufai’s time in office.

The governor also addressed the $350 million World Bank loan that was given to Kaduna State, claiming that no one in the state could confidently say how the funds were spent. “There is nobody in Kaduna state who can confidently hold his Holy Book and swear that he or she knows how every kobo of the Kaduna’s $350 million World Bank loans was spent,” Sani remarked. He suggested that a thorough probe by the Kaduna Assembly was needed to uncover the details of the spending.

Sani didn’t stop there, insinuating that if Governor Uba Sani had indeed refused to disclose the “mythical N150 billion” he was accused of receiving, it could be because he learned this practice from El-Rufai himself. “If the present Governor actually refused to disclose the mythical ‘150 billion’, he must have learned it from the Ex-Governor. The ex-Governor is coming to equity with dirty hands,” Sani stated.

In a particularly biting comment, Sani compared the former governor to someone with a “body odour” accusing another of having “mouth odour,” underscoring his belief that El-Rufai was in no position to criticize others for alleged financial mismanagement. This pointed analogy suggested a hypocrisy in El-Rufai’s accusations against his successor.

Finally, Sani addressed El-Rufai’s accusation that Governor Uba Sani had betrayed him. Sani dismissed this claim, stating that it was simply “a case of the Legend of betrayal being outsmarted by the grand guru.” The statement implied that the former governor, who once held significant political influence, was now being bested by the current governor in a battle of political maneuvering.
