Kanayo O. Kanayo Offers Humorous Advice to Gen Z on Communicating with Elders

Veteran Nollywood actor Anayo Modestus Onyekwere, known as Kanayo O. Kanayo, has shared some valuable advice for young Nigerians, particularly those from Generation Z, on the importance of effective communication with older generations. In a lighthearted yet insightful video that has gained widespread attention on social media, Kanayo expressed his concerns about how some younger individuals interact with their elders, especially when seeking support or approval.

In the video, Kanayo humorously critiqued certain behaviors he perceives among Gen Z, especially in their approach to family matters. “You know this Gen Z generation, they never cease to baffle me,” he remarked with a chuckle. The actor highlighted how younger people sometimes struggle with effectively communicating their requests when approaching older relatives, particularly when asking for financial or moral support.

He gave an example of a young musician seeking sponsorship from his uncle. “You’re going to your uncle to sponsor your project, say you’re a musician, and your uncle asks what the title of your song is. You can’t just blurt out something completely unrelated or inappropriate,” Kanayo explained. He illustrated his point by referencing the title of the popular song “Nyash Na Nyash” by Chella Boi, a mix of Afrobeat and hip-hop.

Kanayo humorously sang the line “Nyash Na Nyash,” adding, “You think your uncle would sponsor such a song? Gen Z, you guys must born again!” His playful tone underscored a serious message: young people need to approach their elders with more tact and thoughtfulness, especially when seeking assistance.
