Lagos State Partners Ara To Host World Female Drummers Festival

World Female Drummers Festival

As part of its commitment to developing the Arts, Culture, Tourism and to expanding viable opportunities for women in the City of Lagos, the Lagos State Government will be partnering Ara to host the maiden edition of World Female Drummers Festival. The Festival is an initiative of Ara, Africa’s first female talking-drummer to perform on world stage.

World Female Drummers Festival will be a 3-day-long event. It is designed to honour The International Girl-Child Day. The Festival promises to be a scintillating show of girl-power in the art of percussion. It will feature live performances by leading female drummers drawn from across the globe. The event will also bring influential women from various countries and professions to speak on pertinent issues related to the development of the girl-child and to the general well being of the world’s female population.

Aside from live performances, there will be a Welcome Dinner; a Special Seminar; a Workshop and a Marathon Exhibition to spice-up the first-ever convergence of the world’s diligent bevy of professional female drummers. The big idea is to celebrate and to give special recognition to female drummers for their important contributions to the advancement of the world’s Entertainment and Tourism Industries.

The drummers’ convergence in the City of Lagos will symbolise the oneness of thought and action of the world’s womenfolk as regards improving the circumstances and fate of the female gender, and also concerning the imperative of making the world a better place for humanity to live in.
Accordingly, the Festival will have as its theme: One Drum, One Voice, One World for Sustainable Development, Peace, Love, Unity and Harmony.

Part of the climax of the event will be the financial empowerment of ten (10) female drum-makers. The Festival is scheduled to hold in the month of October 2020. It will commence on the 9th and close on the 11th. Special thank you to the executive governor of Lagos state and the Lagos state honourable commissioner for Tourism Arts and Culture.
