Lagos State University Demands Justice Over Graduate’s Alleged Ritual Killing

Lagos State University (LASU) has called for timely justice following the tragic death of one of its recent graduates, Adedamola Ogunbode, also known as Horlar. In a statement released on Tuesday, the university expressed its deep sorrow and requested swift legal action regarding the circumstances surrounding Ogunbode’s death.

Oluwayemisi Thomas-Onashile, the Deputy Registrar and Coordinator of the Centre for Information and Public Relations at LASU, shared the university’s reaction to the incident. “The university management is deeply saddened to learn of the tragic death of Ogunbode, a recent graduate of LASU,” Thomas-Onashile said in the statement. “The deceased, fondly known as Horlar, was allegedly killed by a prophet in the Ojo area of Lagos State, reportedly for ritual purposes.”

Ogunbode, a 28-year-old graduate of Political Science Education, had been missing since January 16, according to reports received by the university. “According to the report received by the management, Ogunbode had been missing since January 16,” Thomas-Onashile stated. The news of his death sent shockwaves through the university community, with many expressing disbelief at the brutal circumstances surrounding his disappearance and death.

Following a police investigation, it was revealed that Ogunbode’s mutilated body was discovered buried in the compound of a popular church in the Ojo area. “Investigations by the security agencies revealed that the deceased’s mutilated body was purportedly found buried in the compound of a popular church in the area,” Thomas-Onashile confirmed. The prophet associated with the church has since been arrested and is reportedly cooperating with authorities in their investigation.

The university has extended its heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased, with Thomas-Onashile emphasizing the profound loss felt by the university community. “The university management extends its heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and all who knew him,” she said. “His untimely death is a terrible loss to the entire university community, and we share in the grief of all who are mourning his passing.”

In addition to expressing sympathy, LASU condemned the violence that led to Ogunbode’s death. “We condemn the senseless act of violence, and the brutality and criminality behind his death are unacceptable in any society,” Thomas-Onashile remarked. The university called for immediate and thorough action by the relevant security agencies to ensure justice is served, with those responsible for the crime held accountable.

Lastly, the university urged its community to remain calm as the authorities continue their investigation. “We call for swift and thorough action by the relevant security agencies to ensure that those responsible face justice and that the perpetrators of this horrific crime do not go unpunished,” Thomas-Onashile stated. “In the meantime, we urge our university community, especially our world-class students, to remain calm while the authorities carry out their investigations.” The university also emphasized the importance of vigilance and reporting suspicious activities to ensure the safety and security of all students.
