Man Arraigned For Cutting Off Friend’s Hand

A 24-year-old man, Bashiru Akinyemi was arraigned before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday for allegedly cutting his friend’s hand with a cutlass over a dispute.
However, Akinyemi pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against him, NAN reports. Insp Edet Akadu, while presenting the case to the court, said that the offence was committed by the accused around 2.20p.m at No.58, Alhaji Otta St., Mushin on the 26th of Jan.
Akadu said, “Akinyemi assaulted one Rilwan Adepelu by using a cutlass to cut his left hand following a dispute.”
The offence he said contravened Sections 168, 56 and 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr K.O. Ogundare, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The case was adjourned until Feb. 13 for mention.
