Mohbad’s Widow Raises Alarm Over Threats to Her Life and Son

Omowunmi Aloba, the widow of the late Nigerian music star Mohbad, has issued a distressing statement, revealing that both her life and that of her one-year-old son, Liam, are under constant threat. In a revealing interview with renowned media personality Chude Jideonwo, Omowunmi shared alarming details about the ongoing danger she faces.

“I literally get death threats almost every day in my DMs,” Omowunmi said, her voice filled with concern. “It has really gotten to a point where it’s either I speak up or I die in silence.” These chilling words come as Omowunmi grapples with a series of threats, most of which have been sent to her through direct messages on social media.

In addition to these daily threats, Omowunmi claims that she has been subjected to attacks by her late husband’s former boss, the controversial Nigerian musician Naira Marley, and his associates. The situation has only escalated since the death of her husband, which has been surrounded by controversy and suspicion.

“My life has been under attack ever since my husband’s death,” Omowunmi stated. “Naira Marley and his people are constantly coming after me, and I feel like there’s no way out of this constant torment.” She described feeling trapped and helpless as the pressure mounts.

Omowunmi also expressed her frustration with her late husband’s family, particularly his father, Joseph Aloba. According to her, Joseph has been trying to take control of the late singer’s properties, creating a difficult situation for Omowunmi and their child. “My father-in-law wants to be in control of Mohbad’s properties, or he will go all out to destroy my life,” she revealed.

The relationship between Omowunmi and her father-in-law has reportedly soured significantly since Mohbad’s untimely death. “My father-in-law was the one who officiated my marriage to my late husband. He was the happiest,” Omowunmi recalled, adding that the situation has dramatically changed. “Now, he is calling our son a bastard.”

Further revealing the depth of the discord, Omowunmi stated that her father-in-law has made cruel comments about their son, Liam. “He said Liam has bow legs and that they don’t have such in their family. He said Liam looks older than him, and he is almost 60,” Omowunmi recounted. The bitterness between them appears to have grown stronger, with deep emotional wounds on both sides.

The situation took a disturbing turn when Joseph Aloba allegedly made a shocking claim about their child. “He even went as far as claiming that my husband wanted to throw my baby into the Third Mainland Bridge,” Omowunmi added, referring to a controversial and disturbing statement made by her father-in-law about their infant son.

The tragic death of Mohbad in September 2023 has been at the center of public attention. The singer, who had recently left Naira Marley’s Marlian Music over a dispute related to an unfulfilled contract, died under mysterious circumstances. His passing raised numerous questions, especially given the allegations surrounding his former label boss.

In the wake of his death, allegations surfaced suggesting that Naira Marley and his associate, Sam Larry, may have been involved in the events leading to Mohbad’s untimely demise. A viral video showing Sam Larry assaulting Mohbad before his death further fueled public suspicion.

On October 6, 2023, Naira Marley and Sam Larry were arraigned and remanded over their alleged involvement in Mohbad’s death. However, the duo later pleaded not guilty and were granted bail, leading to further public debate and concern about the true circumstances of Mohbad’s passing.

Despite the legal proceedings, Omowunmi’s life remains in jeopardy, and she continues to fight for justice for her late husband. “Every day feels like a battle,” she confessed, adding that she is determined to protect her son and ensure that the truth about her husband’s death is revealed.
