A Muslim cleric, Alfa Muhmeen, has publicly condemned women participating in Kizz Daniel’s viral Marhaba challenge, accusing them of dressing immodestly and behaving inappropriately.
In a video shared online, the cleric expressed his disapproval of the participants, calling them “werey” (a derogatory term) and “unfortunate” for their outfits and the way they danced to the popular song. He said the challenge, which has gained significant attention on social media, was leading some Muslim women to dress in ways that contradict Islamic values.
Alfa Muhmeen went on to compare the women’s outfits to the modest dress of Kizz Daniel’s wife, advising them to take note of how she dresses in the singer’s online videos. “Look at how his wife dresses modestly,” the cleric said, adding that it was disheartening to see Muslim women engaging in what he deemed inappropriate behavior. He further criticized those participating in the challenge, suggesting that some women were wearing only underwear and dancing to the song, which he found deeply troubling.
The cleric also pointed out that other women were not covering their chests, yet were enthusiastically taking part in the challenge. “It is unfortunate to see such behavior,” he added, lamenting the impact on religious and cultural values. His remarks sparked a heated debate online, with some agreeing with his views on modesty, while others defended the women’s right to express themselves.
In an additional comment, Alfa Muhmeen referenced the singer’s own actions, noting that Kizz Daniel had removed his wife’s photos from his Instagram account, hinting at further inconsistencies between the singer’s public image and his private life.
