Nigerian crossdresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has shared his excitement over the acceptance and confidence he has experienced in the United Kingdom. The social media personality, who has long been a controversial figure in Nigeria due to his gender identity and unconventional lifestyle, spoke candidly about the differences between the cultural environments in the UK and his home country. Bobrisky highlighted the sense of freedom and inclusivity he feels in the UK, contrasting it with the societal pressures and limitations he faces in Nigeria.
In an interview, Bobrisky shared that his identification documents in the UK, including his ID and insurance cards, list him as female. “My ID card and insurance ID in dis country carry FEMALE,” he said, emphasizing that this recognition would never be possible in Nigeria. This recognition, he explained, is a clear example of the progressive and inclusive values of Western culture, which he has come to embrace since relocating.
Bobrisky expressed deep appreciation for the empowerment and confidence he feels in the UK, noting that it has given him a sense of security and a stronger voice. “This country gave me a voice and what Nigeria can never give me even if I live there 100 years,” he stated, underscoring the disparity in acceptance between the two nations. According to Bobrisky, the inclusive atmosphere in the UK has helped boost his self-assurance to unprecedented levels.
The crossdresser also made it clear that he no longer worries about the opinions of those who criticize his lifestyle. “My confidence level is 100. Thank you. I don’t care what the Africans think of me,” Bobrisky declared, signaling that he is now more focused on living authentically, regardless of societal judgment.
Concluding his remarks, Bobrisky reflected on how his mindset has evolved since moving to the UK. “My brain now work with the western world,” he explained, indicating that his experiences in the West have shaped his way of thinking and living.
