National Power Grid Collapses Again, TCN Confirms Partial Disturbance

The national power grid experienced another collapse on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, with power generation losing around 1,039 megawatts. According to checks, the grid lost power generation at approximately 1:39 pm.

 

 

Earlier in the day, power generation had peaked at 3,934.77 MW around 6:00 am and later dropped to 2,711 MW by 1:00 pm. The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) confirmed the incident, stating that the national grid experienced a partial disturbance at 1:52 pm.

 

Ndidi Mbah, TCN spokesperson, explained that the disturbance was caused by “a series of line and generator trippings that caused instability in the grid.” She assured that TCN engineers are working to restore bulk power supply to affected states.
