Obi receives second female FCT senator-elect

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has congratulated Ireti Kingibe on winning the senatorial seat for the Federal Capital Territory under the party’s banner.

Kingibe is now the second female senator-elect for the FCT.

In a tweet, Obi expressed his satisfaction with Kingibe’s win, which he said is in line with the party’s commitment to promoting the interests of women and youth in the country. He shared pictures of himself and Kingibe, who is now set to represent the Labour Party in the FCT.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) presented certificates of return to the winners of the senatorial elections held on February 25 at the National Collation Centre, also known as the International Conference Centre, Abuja.

The presentation of the certificates of return to the senators-elect was conducted by the Chairman of INEC, Mahmood Yakubu, on Tuesday. Last week, the commission presented certificates to the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, and Vice President-elect, Kashim Shettima.

The election of Kingibe as the second female senator-elect for the FCT is a significant achievement for the Labour Party and a boost for the representation of women in Nigerian politics. It is also a positive development for the FCT, which now has two female senators representing its interests in the National Assembly.

With Kingibe’s election, the Labour Party has demonstrated its commitment to promoting gender equality and the participation of women in politics. The party’s support for Kingibe also reflects its focus on youth empowerment and its commitment to providing opportunities for young Nigerians to participate in governance and decision-making processes.
