Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has disbursed N220 million to artisans and micro, small and medium enterprise owners in the state. This initiative aims to boost small-scale businesses and improve the state’s economy.
At the cheque presentation ceremony in Akure, Aiyedatiwa, represented by Deputy Governor Dr. Olayide Adelami, emphasized the importance of artisans in economic growth. “This loan scheme tackles poverty, reduces unemployment, and combats youth restiveness,” he said.
The governor encouraged beneficiaries to repay the loans promptly, noting that effective repayment would enable the government to inject more funds into the scheme.
Aiyedatiwa’s administration has demonstrated commitment to uplifting the people through various policies and initiatives. In education, 2,000 teachers are being recruited for public primary and secondary schools.
Over 11,200 students of Ondo state origin in tertiary institutions recently received scholarship and bursary awards. This financial assistance has brought relief to students and parents.
Ondo State Micro Credit Agency Chairman, Adenike Ademujimi, praised Aiyedatiwa’s prioritization of MSME development for economic growth. The disbursement will be made to groups and associations in batches, with prompt repayment encouraged.
Aiyedatiwa’s economic boost extends to agriculture, with modern techniques and loan access for farmers.
This initiative empowers small business owners and artisans, driving economic growth and improving citizens’ lives.
“The effective repayment of this loan would equally encourage our government to inject more funds into the scheme,” Aiyedatiwa stated.
