One Rescued, Lawman Duruji, Others Reportedly Still in Kidnapper’s Den

Former speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Lawman Duruji, a businessman popularly known as Ezzybee and many others have been kidnapped.

 

Wife of an ex-chairman of Okigwe Local Government Area, Frank Onwunere was also kidnapped alongside an identified person at Okwelle junction in Onuimo Local Government Area of the state.

 

The kidnappers also abducted some people at Mbaitoli and Amaraku in Mbano Local Government Area of the state.

 

The kidnappings took place separately between Saturday and Sunday in the state. Daily Trust reported that while Duruji was kidnapped at Ehime Mbano LGA on Saturday January 8 while returning from a function, Ezzybee was kidnapped on Sunday January 9 while on his way to watch a local football match.

 

Spokesperson of Imo State Police Command, Micheal Abattam confirmed the incidents and also said the command is on the trail of the kidnappers.

 

Abattam further revealed that one of the victims who was kidnapped at Ubomiri, had been rescued by the police.
