Senator Adams Oshiomhole has clarified his recent gesture of kneeling before the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, citing respect for the traditional institution. On Channels TV’s Politics Today, Oshiomhole stated, “A father is always a father… I always kneel down before the Oba and will always do so.”
Oshiomhole also lambasted outgoing Governor Godwin Obaseki’s tenure, labeling it a failure. “Obaseki couldn’t point to a single primary or secondary school he built in eight years,” he noted.
The senator highlighted unfulfilled promises, including an airport and seaport in Edo North and Ghereghere, respectively. “Places promised for development are now occupied by lizards and snakes.”
Oshiomhole expressed excitement about his party’s victory, citing his familiarity with Edo State’s needs. “I understand the needs of the people, having presided over the state’s affairs for eight years.”
He criticized Obaseki’s handling of Benin City’s drainage system and accused his team of lacking tangible achievements. “They have nothing to showcase except Asue’s business dealings.”
“Edo people know Asue as just a transaction partner, not a leader with tangible accomplishments,” Oshiomhole concluded.
