Pastor Adeboye Sold Gifted Rolls-Royce to Fund Church Mission Work

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has revealed that he sold a Rolls-Royce gifted to him over two decades ago to support his church’s mission work. His revelation came in a video shared by Church Gist on YouTube, where he reflected on his long-standing relationship with a devoted family in his congregation, the Papa family.

According to Pastor Adeboye, the Papa family’s kindness began with a simple but significant act—providing carpeting for his home when it was still a bare concrete floor. Over time, their generosity expanded, eventually leading to more substantial gifts, including a brand-new Mercedes-Benz given to him as a New Year’s present.

Beyond material gifts, the Papa family also ensured his well-being, sponsoring vacations so he could rest and recharge. Their support, he noted, was a demonstration of their deep commitment to his ministry and personal comfort. “They started by providing small things, but their generosity never stopped growing,” Adeboye said.

However, the most extravagant gift came 23 years ago when the family presented him with a Rolls-Royce. While acknowledging the luxury of the vehicle, Adeboye explained that he could not justify keeping such an expensive car when there were pressing needs within the church.

“After using it for three years, I decided to sell it and use the proceeds for mission work,” he disclosed. His decision underscored his belief in prioritizing the greater good over personal indulgence. The funds from the sale, he noted, were directed toward supporting the church’s evangelical and charitable activities.

This act further reinforced Pastor Adeboye’s long-held values of humility and selflessness. Despite his global influence and the affluence of some of his congregation members, he has consistently maintained a lifestyle centered on service rather than luxury. “I have never been driven by material possessions,” he emphasized.
