The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the release of Benedict Akiika, an ally of Governor Seyi Makinde, who was kidnapped last week. According to a statement signed by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, Akiika regained his freedom on Wednesday evening and is currently undergoing medical treatment.
Akiika was abducted from his residence in Idi Ape, Olorunda-Aba community, Lagelu local government area, on August 4. Osifeso stated, “Efforts are currently in top gear to apprehend the criminal network responsible for the reprehensible act.”
The police command appealed to residents to assist in the ongoing investigation by providing timely and credible information, reiterating its commitment to ensuring that Oyo State is not turned into a playground for criminals.
