President Bola Tinubu is set to return to Abuja on Sunday, concluding his official visit to China and his short stay in the United Kingdom.
The President’s visit to China, which began on August 29, was marked by significant milestones, including the signing of five Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with the Chinese government.
According to Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the MOUs signed during President Tinubu’s bilateral meeting with President Xi Jinping include the Cooperation Plan to promote the Belt and Road Initiative, peaceful application of nuclear energy, and cooperation on human resource development under the Global Development Initiative.
President Tinubu also held bilateral talks with Chinese Premier Li Qiang and attended the Welcoming Banquet and Cultural Gala Performance hosted by President Jinping and his wife, Peng Liyuan. Additionally, he visited two Chinese companies, Huawei and China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC), and delivered a paper on global peace at the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit.
During his meeting with representatives of Nigerians in the Diaspora Organisation, China chapter, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of his government’s reforms, aiming to achieve good roads, constant power, and good schools in Nigeria, similar to China’s development.
Following his visit to China, President Tinubu spent some days in London, where he met with King Charles III to discuss climate change and related issues.
