Renowned event musician Segun Johnson, celebrated for his dynamic and inclusive performance style, has shed light on what inspired his unique approach to entertaining guests at parties and events.
Speaking about his journey in a recent interview, Johnson disclosed that his creativity stems from his experiences as a backup drummer. He explained that he always felt a strong responsibility to ensure that every guest at an event enjoys good music, regardless of their status.
“It has always been a concern for me, even back when I was a backup drummer, to make sure everybody at the party feels the vibe and enjoys the music,” Johnson said.
He criticized the common trend among some musicians to focus solely on wealthy guests who spray money during performances, often neglecting other attendees. “Back then, when the rich men start spraying money, the musician can even forget the celebrant and focus on praise-singing the spender,” Johnson noted.
According to him, this one-sided approach never sat well with him. “Deep down, I was always thinking that there must be a way for everybody to enjoy the vibe and be happy,” he added.
