Tacha Reveals Why She Relocated to the UK, “I’ve Conquered the Nigerian Market”

Former Big Brother Naija housemate Natacha Anita Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has explained why she decided to relocate to the United Kingdom, revealing that her decision was driven by her success in the Nigerian market. Tacha, who recently made the move abroad, shared her reasons during an interview with British media personality Madame Joyce.

In the conversation, Tacha stated that her move to the UK was not a retreat from the Nigerian entertainment scene, but rather a strategic decision after reaching the pinnacle of her career in Nigeria. “I relocated to the UK because I have conquered the whole of the Nigerian market,” she said, adding that she would continue to consider Nigerian opportunities if the offers were right. “Relocating to the UK doesn’t mean I’m not going to do Nigerian deals. If the offer is good, why not?”

Tacha also discussed the challenges she faced in the Nigerian influencing industry, particularly the financial limitations that led to her decision. She revealed that while the Nigerian influencer scene may appear lucrative, the reality behind the scenes is less glamorous. “The influencing scene in Nigeria looks so beautiful, but behind the scenes, it’s not as beautiful as it seems because the money is poor,” she explained.

She shared a specific example of how the compensation structure has changed over time, mentioning that the standard fee for influencer work remained stagnant even after her rise to fame. “Someone would pay you N6 million, that’s around $3,000, for you to influence for six months and post two videos a month,” Tacha said, pointing out that the rate had been the same since she left Big Brother Naija in 2019.

Tacha further explained how the financial realities of the influencer industry in Nigeria no longer made sense to her. “The fee was the same when I left the Big Brother Naija show in 2019, but it made sense then. At least, you could book a plane ticket with it. But right now, $3,000 is nothing,” she remarked. “N6 million seems good, but when you have to convert it to dollars, travel abroad, and spend money to look good, there’s nothing left.”
