Trump Expresses Confidence in Ending Russia-Ukraine War, Criticizes European Approach

President Donald Trump has expressed doubt about how European countries are handling the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, suggesting that they are uncertain about how to bring an end to the three-year war. Speaking from the Oval Office on Friday, Trump reiterated his belief that the war could escalate into World War III if it remains unresolved. He warned that immediate action is necessary to prevent further global destabilization, stating, “This war could end in World War III if we don’t settle.”

When questioned about the lack of peace proposals from European nations, Trump emphasized his own confidence in resolving the conflict. “They’re in a very unusual position; they don’t know how to end the war,” the President stated, adding, “I think I do know how to end the war.” He implied that his experience and approach could lead to a resolution that others have failed to find, claiming that only he could bring the war to a close.

Trump also reflected on his relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin, asserting that despite the “Russia hoax” that clouded his earlier presidency, he has always maintained a good rapport with Putin. “I think he’s going to be more generous than he has to be, and that’s pretty good. That means a lot of good things,” Trump remarked, suggesting that Putin may be more willing to negotiate than is generally believed.

The President further elaborated that, had the war never begun, it would have been possible to strike a “good deal” without requiring Ukraine to make significant concessions. He added that the conflict’s current status makes it more difficult for Ukraine to negotiate, indicating that they are not in a strong position to secure favorable terms. “I’m finding it hard to deal with Ukraine, and they don’t have the cards,” Trump acknowledged, but suggested that negotiations with Russia “might be easier” if the situation were different.

Meanwhile, European leaders have continued to provide significant support to Ukraine. On Thursday, the European Union announced a fresh $33 billion in aid for the war-torn country. French President Emmanuel Macron confirmed that the funds would come from assets frozen under sanctions imposed on Russia. This development underscores the ongoing efforts by the EU to assist Ukraine as the war drags on.

The influx of aid, while crucial for Ukraine’s continued defense, highlights the ongoing divide between the U.S. and Europe in their approach to the conflict.
