Former U.S. President and Republican candidate Donald Trump declared that winning Pennsylvania in the upcoming election would secure his victory in the race for the White House. Speaking on the Rich Zeoli Show on Philadelphia’s Talk Radio 1210 WPHT, Trump emphasized the importance of the state in the 2024 presidential race.
“If we win Pennsylvania, we win the whole deal,” Trump asserted during the interview, further stressing the critical role the state plays in his path to victory. “We’re going to make this country greater than ever before, but you have to stay in line. You have an absolute legal right and get that vote in because if we win Pennsylvania, if we win the good old Commonwealth, we’re going to win the whole thing. We win everything.”
Trump’s comments come as he and his Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, both focus their campaigns on Pennsylvania, a key swing state that could prove decisive in the race for the presidency. With 19 electoral votes at stake, Pennsylvania is considered one of the most significant battleground states in the 2024 election cycle.
The state has long been a swing state in presidential elections, and both parties see Pennsylvania as a must-win to secure the 270 electoral votes required to win the presidency. In 2016, Trump famously flipped Pennsylvania, marking a pivotal moment in his successful bid for the White House. However, in 2020, the state swung back to the Democrats, with Joe Biden capturing the state by a narrow margin.
With polls closing at 8 p.m. local time (0100 GMT), the race in Pennsylvania remains tight. However, voters who were still in line at the time of closure will still be allowed to cast their ballots, which could potentially influence the final outcome in the state.
In his remarks, Trump also urged his supporters to make sure they cast their votes, reinforcing his message that Pennsylvania would play a central role in determining the next president. “If we win Pennsylvania, we win everything,” he reiterated, underscoring the state’s significance in his campaign’s strategy.
