The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, has expelled a student, Goddy-Mbakwe Chimamaka Precious, over an alleged assault on a lecturer. The decision was officially announced on Friday in a statement released by the Acting Registrar, Victor Modebelu.

According to the statement, the expulsion followed an investigation and recommendations from the university’s Student Disciplinary Committee. The panel reviewed the incident, which involved Chimamaka attacking a lecturer from the Department of Theater and Film Studies, before submitting its findings to the Acting Vice-Chancellor.
Modebelu confirmed that the student was found guilty of gross misconduct and a violation of the institution’s Student Disciplinary Regulations, particularly Regulation 4. “The Ag. Vice-Chancellor, consequently, on behalf of the University Senate, approved the Committee’s recommendation that you be expelled, and you are hereby expelled from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka,” the statement read.
The university emphasized its commitment to maintaining discipline and upholding ethical conduct among students. It reiterated that any act of violence, harassment, or misconduct would not be tolerated. “The institution has zero tolerance for any form of misconduct, and this decision serves as a strong message to others,” a university official stated.
