UNIZIK Lecturer and Student Clash Over Dance Video Incident

Theatre Arts and Film Studies lecturer at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Dr. Chukwudi Okoye, has narrated his side of the story regarding a physical altercation with a third-year student, Goddy Mbakwe Precious, from the History and International Studies department. The incident, which took place on campus, has sparked widespread discussion after a video of the altercation surfaced online.

The confrontation occurred at the Faculty of Arts when Dr. Okoye encountered the student recording a TikTok dance video in the corridor. According to eyewitnesses, the lecturer attempted to get past her by tapping her shoulder and saying, “Excuse me.” However, the student allegedly reacted angrily, accusing him of hitting her. “Can you imagine how he just hit me?” she was heard saying, according to a bystander.

The situation quickly escalated as the student reportedly grabbed the lecturer’s clothes, leading to a brief struggle. Bystanders intervened to separate the two before the altercation could worsen. A video of the incident, which has been widely shared on social media, shows the student confronting Dr. Okoye in the heated exchange.
