Veteran singer Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Face, has become the subject of public concern after his mother, Mrs. Rose Idibia, made a heartfelt plea to Nigerians, urging them to help her beg Edo State lawmaker, Natasha Osawuru, to leave her son alone. Her appeal came in a viral video that surfaced on Thursday evening, drawing significant reactions from the public.
In the video, Mrs. Idibia expressed her distress over her son’s current state, attributing it to his ongoing divorce from his estranged wife, Annie Idibia. She claimed that 2Face was not in his right frame of mind and insinuated that Osawaru might have an undue influence over him.
“Good evening, Nigerians. My name is Mrs. Rose Idibia, the mother of 2Face. This message is for Miss Natasha Osawaru of Edo State. I’m calling on all mothers in Nigeria to help me beg her to free my son,” she said in the emotional video.
She further alleged that certain ornaments worn by her son, which were given to him by Osawaru, were of particular concern. “My son is going through a divorce process, and he is clearly not in his right senses now. I know my son well. That is not him,” she emphasized. “Please, Natasha, the beads you put on his hand and on his neck, remove them and free him.”
The plea followed the circulation of a video earlier on Thursday, which showed the moment 2Face proposed to Osawaru. In the footage, the singer and the lawmaker were seen dancing together while surrounded by friends before he presented her with a ring, sealing the moment with a long embrace.
The development came just a day after 2Face publicly confirmed his romantic relationship with Osawaru on social media, a revelation that immediately set the internet abuzz. This confirmation followed growing speculations, especially after the singer was spotted at the Edo State Assembly and later seen with Osawaru at a club in Lagos.
Addressing the swirling rumors, the African Queen crooner took to Instagram to set the record straight. “Allegedly, I have seen so many things, so many people coming up with their own false narratives and malicious nonsense after I posted that stuff that I posted. Yes, I posted what I posted,” he stated.
Defending Osawaru from accusations of being a homewrecker, 2Face added, “Hon. Natasha has been dragged, she has been called all sorts of names, she has been labeled as a home breaker. She is a young, brilliant, amazing woman, and she had nothing to do with what is happening between me and Annie in our marriage. Yes, I love her. She is amazing, and she is cool. I want to marry her.”
Osawaru, a politician and member of the Edo State House of Assembly, represents the Egor Constituency under the Peoples Democratic Party. She was elected in April 2023 and hails from the Egor Local Government Area of Edo State.
