Nigerian singer, Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, has officially confirmed his departure from Olamide’s record label, YBNL Nation. The news comes after weeks of speculation about his exit from the label that helped propel him to stardom.
Rumors of a dramatic split had been circulating online, but Asake put an end to the speculation by announcing his departure through the release of his latest single, Why Love. The song, which was released under his newly established label, Giran Republic, signals a new chapter in his music career.
Despite his exit, Asake has maintained a respectful stance toward his former boss, Olamide. Earlier this year, he dropped Military, his first single of 2025, in which he acknowledged Olamide’s influence on his career. This move reassured fans that there was no bad blood between the two artists.
“I owe a lot to YBNL and Olamide for believing in me and giving me a platform,” Asake stated in a recent interview. “This is just the next step in my journey, and I’m excited for what’s to come.”
Asake first signed with YBNL Nation in February 2022, a deal that marked a turning point in his career. Under the label, he achieved massive success with hit songs and his debut album, solidifying his place in the Nigerian music industry.
In July 2022, Asake expanded his reach by signing a distribution deal with Empire, an international record label and music distribution company. That partnership continues, as he remains affiliated with Empire even after leaving YBNL.
With the launch of Giran Republic, fans are eager to see what direction Asake’s music will take. His ability to blend Afrobeats with Amapiano has made him a standout artist, and his next moves will determine how he continues to evolve in the industry.
