Atiku Abubakar Donates N100m to Maiduguri Flood Victims, Calls for Support

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has donated N100 million to support victims of the recent flood that ravaged Maiduguri, the Borno State capital. The donation was announced in a statement issued by his media adviser, Paul Ibe, on Sunday.

Atiku’s visit to Maiduguri came after the National Emergency Management Agency reported that over 23,000 households were affected by the flood, which resulted from the rupture of the Alau Dam on the Ngadda River. The flood, described as the town’s worst in 30 years, was triggered by heavy rains.

During his visit, Atiku paid a courtesy call on Governor Prof. Babagana Zulum at the Government House, where he announced the donation to the flood relief fund. Atiku’s media adviser described the gesture as “a testament to his unwavering dedication to humanitarian efforts.”

Atiku also called upon his network of friends and associates to contribute further to the relief efforts, demonstrating his commitment to supporting those affected. This gesture is consistent with his previous humanitarian initiatives, notably during the COVID-19 pandemic.
