Dino Melaye Suspended From PDP

The Kogi State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended former Senator Dino Melaye from the party, effective immediately. The suspension was announced by the Ward party executive committee in Ayetoro Gbede, Ward 1, following Melaye’s refusal to honor a summons over alleged anti-party activities and misconduct.

According to the Ward Chairman, Abayomi Osamika, and Secretary, Ward Yodson Dayo, the suspension is in line with provisions of Article 59 (1) of the PDP constitution, which empowers the Ward party executives to take disciplinary actions against erring members.

The resolution reads: “Senator Dino Melaye’s conduct has brought embarrassment and disrepute to the party, and his continued membership is no longer tenable. Therefore, the Ward party exco hereby suspends Dino Melaye from the Peoples Democratic Party, effective and immediately.”

Melaye, who represented Kogi West Senatorial district in the 8th National Assembly, was summoned by the Ward party executives to answer questions over his alleged anti-party activities, but he failed to appear.

The suspension letter, signed by Osamika and Dayo, stated that Melaye’s actions have brought embarrassment and disrepute to the party, and his continued membership is no longer tenable.

The PDP Ward party executives have taken a firm stance against Melaye’s alleged misconduct, citing the need to maintain discipline and uphold the party’s constitution.
