Nigerian disc jockey Florence Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy, has expressed hope that one day Nigeria could have both a female President and Vice President. Her comments came after Namibia made history by becoming the first African country to have women in both top leadership roles.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), DJ Cuppy celebrated Namibia’s achievement and saw it as a potential sign of progress for Nigeria. “Namibia just made history. Africa’s FIRST country with BOTH a female President AND female Vice President. Maybe there’s hope for Nigeria one day after all,” she wrote.
The historic moment for Namibia came when Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah was sworn in as the country’s first female President, following her election victory. She will be working alongside Vice President Lucia Witbooi, marking a milestone not just for Namibia but for the African continent as a whole.
