The Edo State Government has revealed plans by Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu to forcibly enter the Government House on September 30, despite a pending appeal challenging his reinstatement.
According to Special Adviser Crusoe Osagie, “We want to draw the attention of the Inspector General of Police to the intelligence gathered regarding Shaibu’s planned move to enforce Justice J. K. Omotosho’s ruling.”
Osagie urged the Inspector General to prevent Shaibu’s “devious plot,” citing the death of a policeman during a similar attempt.
The government has filed a stay of execution appeal, pending the hearing and determination of the Motion for Stay of Execution/Injunction Pending Appeal.
Government lawyers have written to the IGP and stakeholders, highlighting the need to stay enforcement of the judgment to prevent chaos and maintain law and order.
