The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has initiated an investigation into allegations made by social media influencer, Idris Okuneye (Bobrisky), that some EFCC officers demanded a N15 million bribe to drop money laundering charges.
Bobrisky, recently released from Kirikiri Correctional Centre after serving a six-month sentence for abusing the Naira, made the allegations in a viral video. EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, has constituted a team to investigate.
“The EFCC wishes to assure the public that the allegations would be thoroughly investigated and the result of the findings made public accordingly,” said Dele Oyewale, EFCC spokesperson. “The Commission is committed to its core values of integrity, courage, professionalism and collaboration at all times.”
The EFCC has invited Bobrisky and video producer, Martins Vincent Otse (VeryDarkMan), to assist investigators at its Lagos Directorate.
The investigation aims to uncover the truth and ensure accountability within the commission. The EFCC reaffirms its commitment to combating financial crimes and promoting transparency in Nigeria.
Bobrisky was prosecuted by the EFCC for spraying Naira notes at an event, violating Nigeria’s currency laws. His allegations have sparked widespread attention, emphasizing the need for transparency in law enforcement agencies.
