The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has called on youths to renounce fraudulent practices, prostitution, and ritual killings, citing their detrimental impact on Nigeria’s challenges.
At the 85th anniversary celebration of the First Baptist Church in Ilorin, Kwara State, the Emir praised the harmonious relationship between Christian and Muslim communities. “The unity between Christians and Muslims should continue; it is the peaceful co-existence of the people that makes Kwara State the State of Harmony.”
Represented by Oba Oluwagbemiga Oloyede, Olusin of Isanlu-Isin, the Emir emphasized the importance of prayer and cooperation. “Traditional rulers are enjoying your prayers and cooperation with Muslims in the state.”
Reverend Israel Akanji, President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, delivered a sermon emphasizing hard work and true worship to secure a place in heaven. “The Church is the household of God and the gate to heaven.”
Dignitaries in attendance included Oba Adebayo Lawal and High Chief Oluwayemisi Ogundare, representing the Soun of Ogbomoso land.
