“Everybody Must Be Accountable”, Odumodublvck on Artist-Record Label Conflicts

Rapper Odumodublvck has addressed the persistent tensions between artists and their record labels, challenging the notion that artists are always victims in such disputes. In a recent interview with Hip TV, he highlighted that these conflicts often stem from personal disagreements rather than systemic issues within the music industry.

“The narrative that record labels are always the bad guys is not entirely accurate,” Odumodublvck stated. “Sometimes, it’s personal disagreements between people that escalate into bigger issues.” He emphasized that the human dynamics behind these business relationships can lead to misunderstandings and disputes.

The rapper warned against unfairly painting record labels as villains, explaining that some artists develop challenging attitudes after achieving success. “Some artists start making excessive demands and forget the efforts the label has invested in them,” he noted.

At the same time, Odumodublvck acknowledged that record labels are not blameless in these situations. He called for mutual accountability, stating, “Everybody must be accountable. It’s not a ‘record labels are bad’ situation. There are things artists don’t come out to say during these conflicts.”

The rapper urged artists to recognize the substantial investments made by record labels in their careers. According to him, such contributions should be factored into discussions when disputes arise.

His comments come amidst the recent controversy involving Dapper Music and its former artists, Shallipopi and Muyeeez. Both artists have accused the label of financial mismanagement and unfair practices, claims that Dapper Music has since denied.

Drawing from his industry experience, Odumodublvck advocated for a fair and transparent approach to resolving disputes. He highlighted the importance of clear communication and mutual respect between artists and their record labels.

“It’s crucial for both parties to understand their roles and responsibilities,” he added, stressing the need for transparency and fairness in contractual agreements.

The rapper concluded by calling for an end to the blame game, urging stakeholders to focus on finding solutions. “We need to stop pointing fingers and start finding solutions. Both artists and record labels need to do better,” he said.
