The Federal Government has declared Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, as public holidays to mark the Eid-el-Fitr celebration. The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the government, in a statement released by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani, on Wednesday.

In his message, Minister Tunji-Ojo congratulated Muslims across the country for successfully completing the fasting during the holy month of Ramadan. He acknowledged their dedication and commitment to the spiritual practices of the season.

Tunji-Ojo urged Muslims to “embrace the virtues of self-discipline, compassion, generosity, and peace,” emphasizing the importance of love, forgiveness, and solidarity in building a harmonious society. He stressed that these values should guide the celebrations of Eid, fostering unity and understanding among all citizens.

The Minister also called on Nigerians to celebrate safely and responsibly, reminding them to remember the less privileged through acts of kindness and charity, staying true to the spirit of Ramadan and Eid. “Let us reflect on the lessons of Ramadan by helping those in need and spreading goodwill throughout our communities,” he said.
