Federal Government Declares Public Holiday for Eid-ul-Mawlid Celebration

The Federal Government has declared Monday, September 16, 2024, as a public holiday to mark the celebration of the Eid-ul-Mawlid, commemorating the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration on behalf of the federal government, congratulating the Muslim Ummah on the occasion.

In his message, Dr. Tunji-Ojo said, “I felicitate with the Muslim Ummah on this special occasion of the Eid-ul-Mawlid, which marks the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).” He also implored Muslims to use the opportunity to pray for enduring peace and a more prosperous egalitarian nation.

The minister urged Muslims and all Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of patience, sacrifice, and resilience, saying, “Let us all emulate the virtues of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) by being patient, sacrificing, and resilient in the face of challenges.”

The declaration of the public holiday is expected to enable Muslims to observe the Eid-ul-Mawlid with ease and celebrate the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in a peaceful and joyful atmosphere.
