Nigerian singer Fireboy DML recently discussed the ongoing conflicts among artists in the Nigerian music industry during an interview on City FM. Addressing the frequent disagreements between prominent figures, such as Wizkid and Davido, Fireboy acknowledged that disputes are a natural part of the music scene. “Beef is just part of life. We are all human,” he said, suggesting that differences are expected in any industry where passionate individuals work.
The singer emphasized the need for people to remain focused on their respective roles, encouraging a separation between artists, fans, and the media. “Everyone should just focus on what concerns them. Let artists be artists, fans be fans, and the media keep telling the stories,” Fireboy advised. His comments came as the industry grapples with several high-profile feuds, including the long-standing tensions between Davido and Burna Boy, as well as recent disagreements between Wizkid and Davido.
Fireboy also touched on his new album, Adedamola, which features collaborations with iconic figures like Lagbaja, Jon Baptiste, Seun Kuti, and DJ Spinall. According to the singer, his collaborations with Lagbaja and Seun Kuti were suggested by Olamide, the head of YBNL and the album’s executive producer. Fireboy expressed pride in the diverse range of artists on the album, highlighting the blend of traditional and contemporary influences in his music.
The Nigerian music scene has seen its fair share of conflicts over the years. Notable disagreements have included those between Ruger and BNXN, who later reconciled, and the ongoing public feud between Davido and Burna Boy. Despite these issues, Fireboy seems committed to staying out of drama, focusing instead on his musical career and the positive aspects of his artistry.
