“I will end the war in Ukraine, I will stop the chaos in the Middle East, and I will prevent World War 3 from happening, you have no idea how close we are,” Trump declared, highlighting the dire state of international affairs as a motivating factor for his pledge. His comments came amid rising tensions in both regions, with the war in Ukraine showing no signs of abating and the Middle East continuing to face instability.

For the first time in 40 years, the event will not take place outside, where presidential inaugurations have typically been hosted on the Capitol steps. The last time an inauguration was moved indoors due to cold temperatures was in 1985 for President Ronald Reagan’s second swearing-in.
Trump addressed the change in location, saying, “There is an Arctic blast sweeping the country. I don’t want to see people hurt, or injured, in any way.” The president-elect emphasized the importance of keeping attendees safe, explaining that he had ordered the Inauguration Address, along with prayers and other ceremonial speeches, to be delivered in the United States Capitol Rotunda.
