Ibadan Airport: SLAA Manager Sends Strong Warning to Illegal Waste Dumpers as Airport Marks 2026 World Environment Day

The Airport Manager of Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport (SLAA), Ibadan, Mr. Oluwagbemiga Afuwape, has issued a stern warning against indiscriminate waste disposal within and around the airport environment, stressing that environmental cleanliness remains a collective responsibility that must not be compromised.

Mr. Afuwape gave the warning on Wednesday during activities marking the 2026 World Environment Day celebration held at the airport’s Fire Bay in Ibadan.

Addressing members of staff and stakeholders at the event, the Airport Manager condemned the activities of illegal waste dumpers, noting that such practices pose serious environmental and safety concerns, particularly within critical infrastructure such as airports.

He urged residents, airport users and members of the host communities to desist from dumping refuse indiscriminately and embrace proper waste management practices.
