Mr. Macaroni Responds to Criticism Over Snub of Lagos Governor

Nigerian actor and content creator Adebowale Adedayo, popularly known as Mr. Macaroni, has publicly addressed the ongoing criticism he faced for not greeting Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu during a recent public appearance. The incident has sparked a heated debate online, with many questioning Mr. Macaroni’s actions and motives. However, in a series of posts on social media platform X, Mr. Macaroni has made it clear that he stands by his decision and has no intentions of changing his stance.

In one of his posts on Monday, Mr. Macaroni declared, “This is the last time I will address this matter. It is not worth my peace of mind. Since you people won’t stop attacking me because I didn’t greet Governor Sanwo-Olu, next time I see him, I still won’t greet him. And this time, even if he calls me, I won’t answer. You people will cry today, tomorrow, and forever.” The actor’s bold statement was accompanied by an outpouring of support from his followers, who agreed with his position on political accountability.

The 30-year-old social media influencer, known for his outspoken views on governance and human rights, did not shy away from criticizing Nigerians who defend politicians despite the country’s economic struggles. “The people are suffering! The price of everything is up. Instead of you people to hold your leaders accountable, you are busy kissing their bumbum,” Mr. Macaroni remarked, adding that many Nigerians prioritize political loyalty over holding public officials accountable for their actions.

Mr. Macaroni also highlighted what he described as a culture of hypocrisy, accusing some individuals of publicly condemning politicians while privately seeking favors. “Some people call out their state governors every day, then go behind closed doors to collect envelopes to become praise singers. It hurts them when they see that not everyone is for sale,” he stated, emphasizing that not all Nigerians are willing to compromise their values for financial gain.

The actor’s comments also touched on the broader issue of political loyalty, which he believes undermines the country’s development. “These people have no honour, no code, no respect or dignity whatsoever. They have become slaves to the servants of the people. This is why Nigeria is the way Nigeria is. The people worship and defend their oppressors,” Mr. Macaroni continued, expressing his frustration with a political culture that he feels places power and wealth over the well-being of the people.

Despite the mounting attacks on his character, Mr. Macaroni stood firm in his resolve. “I am no saint. I am nobody’s hero. I am far from perfect. I do what I do only because I strongly believe in it. Do I get tired of the constant attacks on my person? Yes! But please do not think for a second that I will betray my conscience,” he asserted, making it clear that his actions are driven by a deep belief in his principles.

In his final remarks, the actor condemned the role that tribalism plays in Nigeria’s political landscape, urging Nigerians to rise above ethnic divisions. “Shame on all those who have joined in creating this toxic culture of tribal bigotry. Kudos to every Nigerian, irrespective of their tribe, who see beyond this mischief and continue to do their best to promote peace and unity,” Mr. Macaroni concluded, reinforcing his commitment to a more inclusive and just society.
