In response to Nigeria’s economic challenges, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has introduced measures to alleviate the financial strain on civil servants.
A circular from the Office of the Head of Service, Samuel Aina Ayanleye, outlined the new directives:
“Public Servants on GL.01 to GL.10 – Three days a week.
Public Servants on GL12 to GL.17 – Four days a week.”
Essential personnel, including medical staff, security officers, political office holders, and accounting officers, are exempt.
Governor Adeleke emphasized his commitment to workers’ well-being, stating, “The arrangements are in pursuance of my administration’s commitment to the well-being of workers and a response to the present economic situation.”
Additionally, Adeleke approved a two-month extension of palliative payments to public servants, bridging the gap until the new minimum wage takes effect.
“The Governor has graciously approved the continuation of payment of the agreed palliatives to public servants… pending the commencement of the new minimum wage.”
Accounting officers in all state and local government ministries, departments, and agencies have been directed to comply.
