PFN Issues Disclaimer Over Viral Video Controversy Involving Martins Otse and Mercy Chinwo

A viral video featuring Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, has sparked a significant controversy. The video, in which Otse allegedly reshared a statement regarding his ongoing dispute with gospel singer Mercy Chinwo, has drawn the attention of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), the influential Christian organization. The statement, which appeared to come from the PFN, quickly circulated across social media platforms, leading to concerns about its authenticity.

In response to the video and the circulating statement, the PFN issued an official press release, strongly condemning Otse’s actions. The organization accused the popular online personality of fabricating and disseminating false information under the guise of an official PFN statement. “This is an attempt to mislead the public and erode trust,” the press release read, further emphasizing the gravity of the issue.

The PFN’s National Secretary, Bishop David Bakare, addressed the situation directly, urging law enforcement authorities to investigate the matter. “We call on the relevant authorities to look into this issue and take appropriate legal measures to prevent the further spread of misinformation,” Bishop Bakare said. His statement reflected the PFN’s deep concern over the potential damage caused by the fake news.

As part of their formal response, the PFN released a detailed disclaimer, emphasizing that the press release circulating on social media was entirely false. “Our attention has been drawn by the Concerned Christian Youth Forum to a fake press release allegedly issued by PFN concerning the Mercy Chinwo and VeryDarkMan matter. The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) hereby issues a formal disclaimer regarding this statement circulating on social media. It was not released by PFN and should be disregarded,” the statement clearly stated.

The PFN also took the opportunity to advise both its members and the general public to exercise caution when engaging with online content. They urged people to verify the credibility of news before sharing it, reminding them that the organization would not be held responsible for any misinformation shared under its name. This message reflected the PFN’s commitment to protecting its reputation and the integrity of its communications.

The PFN’s swift and clear response aimed to restore order to the situation and prevent any further misunderstandings.
