Controversial Nigerian artist Portable has publicly accused fellow musician Davido of offering him misleading advice and living a “fake life.” In a video posted on X, Portable criticized Davido for allegedly steering him away from signing with Sony Music, advising him to opt for Empire Records instead. However, Portable later claimed to have discovered that Davido is actually signed to Sony Music, receiving substantial payments from the label.
In the video, Portable expressed his disappointment, stating that Davido’s advice turned out to be deceptive. “You gave me bad advice in Atlanta. Did you pay for my flight? You told me not to go to Sony but to join Empire, saying Azaké is there. This is what Davido said,” Portable said. He further explained that after following Davido’s counsel and sharing it with his promoter, he was shocked to find out that Davido was, in fact, signed to Sony Music.
Portable emphasized his belief that Davido’s actions were based on dishonesty, claiming that the veteran musician was living a false lifestyle. “Fake love, fake life. You’ll buy a chain for $30,000 and claim it’s worth $100 million,” Portable continued. He accused Davido of inflating the value of his possessions and using them to create a misleading image.
The accusations were not limited to professional advice alone. Portable also criticized Davido’s apparent attempt to deceive others about his wealth and lifestyle. “Your fake life and fake love will harm you,” Portable warned, signaling that such behavior would eventually have negative consequences for the artist.
Despite his criticisms, Portable ended his video by expressing respect for another Nigerian music icon, Wizkid. “Big Wizzy, God bless you,” he added, showing support for Wizkid, even as he criticized Davido’s actions.
