Controversial street-pop artist Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has once again stirred up conversation on social media with his comments about fellow Nigerian music star, Burna Boy. The comments, posted on Portable’s Instagram story, came days after Burna Boy found himself embroiled in a public feud with popular nightclub owner and multi-millionaire, Cubana Chiefpriest. The exchange between the two has been widely discussed, with many calling it a proxy war, initially intended to be between Burna Boy and DMW boss, Davido.
The altercation began when Burna Boy publicly attacked Davido, Cubana Chiefpriest, and other socialites close to the DMW boss. The African Giant’s outburst seemed to spark a ripple effect, which saw him seeking to assert his dominance over Chiefpriest. In a dramatic move, Burna Boy allegedly gave $30,000 to a man identified as Cubana Chiefpriest’s younger brother, directing the funds for him to start a business, further inflaming tensions.
In response, Cubana Chiefpriest didn’t hold back, labeling Burna Boy as “impotent” and sharing videos from Burna’s performance at his birthday party in Owerri, Imo State. These videos seemed to highlight a past connection between the two, which quickly turned sour amid the public exchange of insults.
Amid this heated online drama, Portable, known for his bold and unfiltered opinions, decided to lend his support to Burna Boy. The “Zazu” crooner took to his Insta-story to share his thoughts, praising Burna Boy as the “biggest artiste in Nigeria” and subtly shading Davido and his clique. “Burna Boy is not on the same level as Davido and his boys,” Portable remarked, making it clear where his loyalties lie.
Portable’s post quickly attracted attention, especially considering his previous social media altercation with Davido. The tension between the two began earlier in 2024 when the artists crossed paths during Portable’s visit to the United States. The encounter, which was supposed to be a casual meeting, escalated into a full-blown online dispute, with Portable harshly criticizing Davido and his associates.
